Massage Prep Guide

What to Expect & How to Get Ready

At Remedy Room, we believe that relaxation and healing begin before your session even starts. Taking a few mindful steps to prepare will help you fully embrace the therapeutic benefits of your massage.

Follow these simple guidelines to ensure a smooth and deeply restorative experience.

1 Stay Hydrated

Drinking plenty of water before and after your massage supports your body’s natural detoxification process and helps keep your muscles supple. Hydration enhances the benefits of your session, allowing you to feel refreshed and rejuvenated.

2 Nourish, But Don’t Overindulge

A light snack an hour before your appointment can help maintain your energy levels, but avoid heavy meals. A full stomach may leave you feeling sluggish or uncomfortable, preventing you from fully relaxing.

3 Communicate Your Needs

Every massage is a personal experience. Let your therapist know about any areas of tension, injuries, or specific pressure preferences. Open communication ensures that your session is customized to your body’s needs, helping you achieve the best results.

4 Arrive Early and Settle In

Giving yourself time to transition into a peaceful state of mind is essential. Arrive 5–10 minutes early to complete any necessary paperwork and allow yourself to unwind before your session begins. This helps create a calm and centered experience from the moment you step inside.

5 Breathe, Relax, and Receive

Deep, intentional breathing is a simple yet powerful way to enhance relaxation. Take a few slow breaths before your massage to signal to your body that it’s time to let go of stress. The more you relax, the more you allow the healing effects of massage to take hold.

6 Your Comfort Comes First

Your massage should be a deeply soothing and comfortable experience. Undress to your comfort level, knowing that professional draping techniques are always used to ensure your privacy and relaxation throughout your session.

Taking these simple steps will help you fully immerse yourself in the healing and restorative benefits of massage therapy. Allow yourself to unwind, release tension, and step into a space of complete relaxation. We look forward to welcoming you to your session.

About

The Remedy Room - Established Nov 2024

After growing up in Wendell, I found my home in the beautiful community of Twin Falls, Idaho. My journey into therapeutic massage began as a personal pursuit—seeking relief from chronic back pain after a car accident. It was through the guidance of a family friend, the instructor and owner of the Intermountain College of Natural Health, that I discovered the profound healing power of massage. His expertise not only helped me break free from pain but also ignited a deep passion for bodywork and holistic healing.

In 2014, I enrolled in a nephropathy and massage therapy program, earning certifications in both fields. Now, with over nine years of experience as a Licensed Massage Therapist, I specialize in deep tissue and therapeutic massage, focusing on helping clients manage chronic pain and recover from acute muscle tension. Assisting others on their healing journeys is my greatest passion, and bringing The Remedy Room to life has been a dream come true. My mission is to provide a space where others can find relief, restoration, and balance in their own bodies.

What are The Benefits of Massage Therapy?

Many people associate massage therapy with vacations or luxury spa experiences, but research suggests that this time-honored practice offers far more than just relaxation. Massage therapy has been shown to provide a variety of physical, mental, and emotional benefits, making it an essential tool for overall well-being.
Massage therapists use their fingers, hands, forearms, and elbows to manipulate the body's muscles and soft tissues. Various techniques and focuses lead to different styles of massage, such as Swedish and deep tissue massage.

  • Swedish Massage - utilizes broad techniques, including long strokes, kneading, deep circular motions, vibration, and tapping to promote relaxation and circulation.

  • Deep Tissue Massage - targets specific areas of pain or tension, addressing muscle "knots" and tissue restrictions to provide deeper relief.

Physical Benefits of Massage

  • Relieves muscle tension and pain

  • Improves circulation and flexibility

  • Enhances range of motion

  • Supports lymphatic drainage, reducing swelling

  • Reduces inflammation

  • Improves posture and alignment

  • Boosts immune system function

  • Enhances athletic performance and recovery

  • Reduces the risk of injuries

  • Supports post-surgery or illness recovery

Mental & Emotional Benefits

  • Reduces stress and promotes relaxation

  • Enhances mood and emotional well-being

  • Helps alleviate anxiety and depression

  • Improves sleep quality

  • Increases self-awareness and body consciousness

Long-Term Benefits of Massage

Stress Reduction

Chronic stress can have serious physical and emotional effects. Massage therapy may help alleviate stress-related conditions such as tension headaches and muscle tightness.

Enhanced Immune Function

Studies suggest that massage therapy can strengthen the immune system by boosting the body's natural "killer T cells," which help defend against viruses and infections.

Improved Mental Health & Wellness

Massage has been shown to positively impact symptoms related to stress, anxiety, and depression, contributing to overall mental well-being.

Pain Management

Chronic pain can significantly affect quality of life and hinder recovery from injuries or medical conditions. Research highlights massage therapy as an effective tool for pain relief and management.

Enhanced Physical Fitness

Both professional and recreational athletes can benefit from massage therapy. It helps reduce muscle tension, enhances exercise performance, and lowers the risk of sports-related injuries.
If you are considering massage therapy for a specific medical condition, consult your healthcare provider to ensure it aligns with your overall care plan. Massage therapy should complement, not replace, medical treatment.
Every therapist and session is unique, so open communication is key. Don't hesitate to share your preferences, needs, and concerns with your therapist to ensure the best experience possible.
